Long-term Visa

To obtain the long-stay visa for other purposes, you must submit the following documents:

  1. documents from which one of the qualities mentioned above may result;
  2. proof of medical insurance during the validity period of the visa;
  3. proof of accommodation conditions;
  4. criminal record certificate or other document with the same legal value, issued by the authorities of the country of origin.

 

The visa fee is 120 Euro and is paid in the state where you apply.

As an internal procedure, the long-stay visa receives the approval of the National Visa Center only after obtaining the approval of the General Inspectorate for Immigration. The notice is issued no later than 30 days after receiving the request, with the possibility to extend the term by 15 days.

The long-stay visa is granted for a period of 90 days, with one or more trips.

STAY PERMIT

After entering Romania you must obtain a residence permit. It attests your right to stay in Romania and you can obtain it from the territorial formations of the General Inspectorate for Immigration from the county in which you live. To obtain the residence permit you will personally submit a series of documents at least 30 days before the expiration of the visa granted. You can also submit documents via the online application, available at https://portaligi.mai.gov.ro/portaligi/

 

For the extension of the right of residence (obtaining the residence permit) for medical treatment you must submit the following documents:

a. request

b. the original border crossing document (passport, travel document, etc.) and a copy;

c. letter of acceptance to a public or private medical institution, stating the diagnosis and the duration of the treatment;

d. proof of the means of maintenance at least at the level of the monthly gross average wage, for the period that requires the extension of the right of residence;

e. the proof of legal possession of the living space (original and copy);

f. the proof of social health insurance;

g. medical certificate;

h. taxes.

 

In order to extend the right of residence (obtaining the residence permit) as administrator of a company you must submit the following documents:

a. request

b. the original border crossing document (passport, travel document, etc.) and a copy;

c. the valid mandate contract;

d. certifying certificate;

e. the address from the National Trade Register Office;

f. documents to show the investment made;

g. proof of the means of maintenance of at least 500 euros per month from the activity carried out according to the mandate contract;

h. the proof of the legal possession of the living space (original and copy);

i. proof of social health insurance;

j. medical certificate;

k. taxes.

 

For the extension of the right of residence (obtaining the residence permit) for unpaid vocational training you must submit the following documents:

a. request

b. the original border crossing document (passport, travel document, etc.) and a copy;

c. the constitutive act of the vocational training institution;

d. the training contract for unpaid participation in a form of professional training within a public or private sector company or within an accredited professional training provider;

e. the proof of the means of maintenance at least at the level of the monthly gross average wage, for the period that requires the extension of the right of residence;

f. the proof of legal possession of the living space (original and copy);

g. proof of social health insurance;

h. medical record;

i. taxes.

 

For the extension of the right of residence (obtaining the residence permit) for volunteer programs you must submit the following documents:

a. request

b. the original border crossing document (passport, travel document, etc.) and a copy;

c. the constitutive act of the organization (original and copy)

d. the volunteering contract concluded with the host organization, in which it is mentioned about the activity to be carried out, the conditions and working hours;

e. civil insurance policy;

f. proof of the means of maintenance at least at the level of the monthly gross average wage, for the period that requires the extension of the right of residence;

g the proof of legal possession of the living space (original and copy);

h. proof of social health insurance;

i. medical certificate;

j. taxes.

 

For the extension of the right of residence (obtaining the residence permit) for activities that do not contravene the Romanian law, you must submit the following documents:

a. request

b. the original border crossing document (passport, travel document, etc.) and a copy;

c. the opinion of the competent authorities (when appropriate) or justified documentsve from which the necessity of staying in Romania may result;

d. proof of the means of maintenance at least at the level of the monthly gross average wage, for the period that requires the extension of the right of residence;

e. the proof of the legal possession of the living space (original and copy);

f. proof of social health insurance;

g. medical certificate;

h. taxes.

If you are a stateless person of Romanian origin, repatriated on the basis of international agreements to which Romania is a party, you can request the extension of the right of residence (obtaining the residence permit) without meeting the general conditions and exempting from the payment of consular fees.

Terms of residence permit

The request for granting or extending the right of residence will be resolved within 30 days from the date of its submission. In cases where further checks are required, the deadline for solving the request may be extended by a maximum of 15 days. If the information or documents provided, on which the request for the extension of the right of residence is based, are inadequate or incomplete, the General Inspectorate for Immigration shall communicate to the applicant the additional information requested and establish a reasonable time limit for sending them, but no more than 30 of days. The term provided in par. (4) it is suspended until the General Inspectorate for Immigration receives the necessary additional information or documents. If no additional information or documents have been provided by the deadline, the request may be rejected.

The right of temporary residence for other purposes is extended successively for periods of up to 1 year, and for stateless persons of Romanian origin it is extended for periods of 4 years.

The right of residence for foreigners who have entered the territory of Romania for the purpose of unpaid vocational training is granted for a period of maximum one year, without the possibility of extension

The right of temporary residence for aliens who carry out activities in voluntary programs is extended for a period equal to the period of validity of the volunteer contract, without exceeding a total duration of one year's stay in the territory of Romania, in this capacity.

 

"
